Our accredited training centres are easily accessible from most parts of the UK. Each centre is fully equipped with tools and workshops for you to use. You will be taught by our professional teaching staff, each with a number of years’ experience in electrical installation. With their guidance you will gain the skills and knowledge you need to become a certified electrical installer in no time at all.

Electrical Course: What Qualifications Will I Gain?

The Certified Electrician Course is made up of 7 distinct qualifications, each furthering your skills as a practising electrician. Our courses are completely flexible, so if you are unable to study all the modules back-to-back (the fastest way to become qualified) you can arrange to train at intermittent periods throughout the year. Contact us to let us know your needs.

Part P / Foundation Training

The very beginning of your training will bring your knowledge up to that of a general domestic electrical installer. The theory and principles you learn here will ensure that the work you eventually carry out in completely in accordance with Part P of Building Regulations, which makes sure all installation work is carried out to a safe and legal standard.

Building Regulations for Electrical Installations in Dwellings

This course component covers the requirements of the Building Regulations as applicable to electrical installations in dwellings. You will need to understand and be familiar with these requirements in order to work on domestic installations.

17th Edition Wiring Regulations

Next, you will learn about the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, a vital qualification for any electrician. This certificate will not only prove to employers that you have the required knowledge, it will also assist you in joining a Competent Person Scheme – crucial if you wish to become a certified electrician.

Portable Appliance Testing

PAT testing is another essential aspect of your course, and is vital to not just electricians but anyone working with the maintenance of electrical appliances. You will be taught not only how to test and inspect appliances, but also the managerial aspects of PAT testing.

Fundamental Inspection & Testing

While a career as an electrical inspector can lead to a very high income, attaining these qualifications can be difficult. However, success will be in your grasp as this qualification teaches you the all-important groundwork of inspecting and testing electrical installations in domestic, commercial and industrial situations. Completion will allow you to initially test and verify installations, with the ability to sign them off as safe.

Initial Verification

This qualification is important because it enables you to inspect, test and certify new work in a range of environments. The Initial Verification qualification covers industrial, commercial and domestic electrical installations.

Inspection & Testing

Following on from the Fundamental qualification, you will now progress toward one of the highest possible achievements an electrician can aim toward. This Inspection and Testing qualification builds upon what you have already learned by covering more in-depth theory and calculations, as well as how to issue period certificates for tested installations. Despite the steep learning curve and difficult exams, our pass rate is more than double the national average.

Once you have inspected the work you’ll be able to then recommend any remedial work that needs carrying out – something you will have become qualified to do earlier in the course. By qualifying as an electrical inspector, you will effectively be able to self-generate your own work.
